OUR DESIGN WORK

I’m Kate, Founder of Shaping Nature. I have worked in the horticulture industry for 15 years and hold a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Garden Design. I’ve completed designs ranging from town house courtyards in Auckland to mock Victorian houses in Ascot, UK. I work with other designers and landscapers in collaborative projects as well as solo designs. Having studied Garden Design at a top academic institute in the UK I have a clear and strong understanding of design principles and practices that are ideally suited to meet the needs of residential properties and their owners. In other words, we are less about the paperwork and more about the finished product! Though we can supply full design documents for council and regulatory sign off when required.

FULL GARDEN DESIGN
We offer full garden design services including site surveys, layouts, bespoke structures and surfaces, and specimen planting.

All of our design work is done on price work so that you know exactly what you will be paying upfront. To start the process, we offer a free initial 30 minute consultation to cover what your requirements are, visual assessment of the space and preferably access to documents you can supply i.e. existing survey documents or an existing design you would like changed.

We will then send you a description of the things discussed (The design Brief) and a quote for the design works to be completed. At this point you can decide whether to proceed with the design.

PLANTING SCHEMES
Whether part of a full design or as a stand-alone project in an existing garden we can supply detailed planting plans in your chosen style. Our planting selections will be chosen based on a site survey and dig test to ascertain soil and drainage type, aspect and climatic features.

As with Full design, planting schemes are done on price work, an initial 30 minute consultation followed by a quote for the discussed works. A planting scheme will firstly start with a mood board of suggested plants, once agreed with you the chosen plants will be incorporated into a detailed planting layout plan to include:

full Latin names, plant quantities, any suggested soil improvements or special requirements during planting.
